We know that contract and calendar changes can throw off the holiday counter, but that’s now a thing of the past.
We’ve launched a smart update that lets Sesame HR automatically recalculate your team’s holidays for you. With this new feature, you’re always in control.
What does this new feature do?
From now on, whenever you create a new contract or edit an existing one (or the holiday calendar assigned to a team member), the system will recalculate holiday days in real time.
Forget formulas, let Sesame handle every calculation and adjustment in the counter.

- Automatic, real-time calculation: the holiday counter updates instantly after any change to the contract or assigned calendar.
- Adjusted to the contract duration: Sesame calculates the total holidays based on each contract’s duration and terms, and updates the counter automatically.
- Works with manual adjustments: if you add or subtract days manually in the counter, those edits are respected and included in the overall recalculation, so you’ll always see an up-to-date breakdown.
- For all holiday types: whether holidays are set by days or by hours, the system applies the same automatic recalculation.
Where will you see it?
The updated counter, with a clear breakdown of the recalculation, is now available in your admin panel: Employee section >> Employee name >> Time off and Holidays.
Want to recalculate based on a previous contract?
Just edit the contract details in the Contracts tab, and Sesame will automatically recalculate the new holiday time.
Practical example
A team member has a six-month contract, so they’re entitled to 11 days of holiday.
During the first few weeks, they’re assigned a key project for the company, which they complete quickly and with excellent results. As recognition, management decides to grant 2 additional days of holiday. As an admin, you can add these 2 days manually via Employee section >> Employee name >> Time off and Holidays >> Holiday counter >> pencil icon.
Later, the company extends the contract by another 6 months, completing a full year. Simply update the contract duration in Contracts and save. Sesame will recalculate automatically, adding 11 more days to the counter. The counter will also display a clear breakdown showing where each day comes from: contract, manual adjustments, or other changes.
